You will notice that a great many montage images are of the pristine desert in Scottsdale, Arizona where I have lived since 1992. Some say the desert is barren, but in my opinion, it is a landscape covered in natural beauty, such as the majestic saguaro, the rugged beauty of Camelback Mountain, and the rock climbers' dream of boulders and rock formations fit for a true expert climber.

These images are visceral and should be viewed intuitively. Great care is taken to ensure objectivity. Camera settings are controlled only to the degree necessary to obtain workable imagery. In assembling each montage, no single frame is ever forced so as to fit into a pre-conceived vision of the final overall mosaic. The individual frames are a true representation of the original scene at the time they were taken. The final assemblage depicts a landscape which, though based in reality, does not exist. Generally, a wider than normal lens is used to promote distortion. Perfection is not the ultimate goal. There is little character in perfection. The only manipulation of the final image involves an increase color saturation, and a slight compression the tonal range. Some images available for purchase.
